We did it! Today our dreams of more impactful representation for District 25 and the City of Wichita have officially become a reality. I am humbled, excited, thankful and optimistic as I begin four years in the Kansas State Senate. I want to take this opportunity to say thank you for your continued and unwavering support on this journey.
I am quite aware the welfare of the state is now on the shoulders Kansas Legislature. That responsibility hangs in the air here at the Capitol. This is a difficult year to enter the legislature, but we clearly have unprecedented opportunity to change the trajectory of our state.
It appears that legislators are ready to get to work. We must use every resource and work together so that those that support the Governor’s agenda will be ineffective. Of utmost importance is creating financial stability that will benefit Kansas for generations to come.
No matter where you live in the state, every citizen has an obligation to hold their legislators accountable to their districts. I remain committed to returning to a fair tax system, and adequately and fairly funding the Kansas educational system. These are my two foundational focuses.
The residents of District 25 have a long history of excellent public servants in the legislature. I look forward to giving the 25th sound representation once again. Thank you for making it happen. I am counting on your support and input throughout this session.
